Here’s how to access NYPL’s databases:
1. Go to http://www.nypl.org/collections/articles-databases
2. Databases are listed in alphabetical order.
3. Enter the number on the back of your library card if you are not in NYPL

BookFlix- Plays narration while highlighting the words of stories (PreK-3)
Kids Search- Students search by keyword or by topic to find the most useful information (K-8)
Learning Express Library- Practice tests in Math and Reading, starting with grades 4 thru College
Searchasaurus- Has a dictionary and encyclopedia geared for young researchers, full-text articles from over 80 magazines and pamphlets appropriate for grades 1-3
TumbleBooks- Animated-talking picture books, story books and books in other languages, puzzles and games. Each story provides the appropriate grade level
World Book Online- Go to ‘World Book Online for Kids’ link to find games, science projects, maps, and more

African-American Experience – Full-text digital resource exploring the history and culture of African Americans, as well as the greater Black Diaspora
American Indian Experience – Full-text digital resource exploring the history and culture of American Indians
Biography in Context – Look up anyone! Provides biographical information on anyone you can imagine
Career Cruising- Career Cruising is a comprehensive bilingual (English and Spanish) interactive multimedia source which features profiles and information on hundreds of occupations
Credo Reference – Bilingual information and reference sources on various subjects
Grolier Online – Bilingual encyclopedia that also suggests magazines and websites
Lands and Peoples – Encyclopedia of countries, cultures, and current events
Latino American Experience-Focused on the history and culture of Latinos from the pre-Columbian Indigenous civilizations of the Americas to the present
Learning Express Library – Improve math, reading, writing skills, study for the SAT and other tests with practice exercises and tests
Literature Resource Center – Information on literary figures from all time periods
Mango Languages – Learn a new language with this interactive database
Middle Search Plus – Full text access to magazines covering general topics for middle and junior high school students
New Book of Popular Science (for students) – A science encyclopedia for young students
New York State Newspapers – Have a project about a current event? Search the major New York newspapers here
Opposing Viewpoints – Articles presenting both sides of controversial issues
Science Online – Covers various fields of science, including diagrams, essays, and experiments
U.S. History in Context – Has a variety of historical data, including photographs, illustrations, and maps
World History in Context – Includes a broad collection of reference materials that covers events, movements, and individuals that have shaped world history
