Summer Reading 2015

Calling all kids and teens! Join the fun and have a blast reading your favorite graphic novels, series and more! Even adults can join the fun. 

Studies show that students who read during the summer are much better prepared for school in the fall. 

Reading for fun results in significant gains in vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. Be sure to make regular plans to visit our public libraries!

10 Ways to Make Reading Even More Fun

1. Go on play dates to our public libraries. Read together daily and take pictures!
   
2. Set a reading challenge: "Our family will read together for 30 minutes daily!"
3. Buy books and magazine subscriptions as presents
4. Host a book club
5. Record your child reading out loud and send the video to family members.
6. Have extended family members and friends write letters to your child.
7. Re-enact stories. Create a play based on a book.
   
8. Make a diorama based on a book. Create a painting of your favorite scene.
   
9. Read poetry, comic books and graphic novels! Listen to an audiobook.
   
10. Take books with you on trips and outings. Visit new libraries on vacation.
